Why start with Hiddify
Most VLESS clients were written by engineers for engineers, and it shows. Hiddify is the exception. You see a big round button, a city name and very little else, and the layout is identical whether you hold an Android phone, an iPhone, a Windows laptop or a MacBook. Under the hood it runs sing-box, so Reality keys work out of the box. The project is open source and costs nothing, and it has no registration step of any kind. When the person you are helping is your mother on a video call, identical screens on both ends matter more than any feature list.

Settings to leave alone, and two to know
Hiddify's settings page is long, and nearly all of it can be ignored with a Notchless key: region rules, DNS choices, fragmenting, multiplexing. Two switches earn your attention. On a computer, service mode decides how much is covered. Proxy handles browsers and well behaved programs, while VPN takes the entire machine. On Android, per app proxy lets a fussy UPI or banking app stay outside the tunnel. Broke something while exploring? There is a reset to defaults entry at the bottom of the page, and it undoes the damage in one tap.

The source code is open for anyone to audit, and releases are frequent. Take it from the Play Store, the App Store or the project's own GitHub, never from a mirror.

What is the number under the button?
The time a small test packet needs to reach the city and come back. It hints at responsiveness and says nothing about megabits.
